Australia: 2009/10 grain supply and demand

The US agricultural attaché estimates Australia’s 2009/10 (Oct./Sept.) wheat crop now at 22.5 (previous forecast 23.6; previous year 20.9) mln t. Exports are expected to amount to 15.0 (15.5; 14.7) mln t, domestic use to 7.1 (7.0; 6.8) mln t and ending stocks to 3.6 (6.7; 3.2) mln t.
Barley output is projected at 8.3 (7.6; 7.7) mln t, exports at 4.2 (4.0. 3.5) mln t, and domestic use at 3.6 (3.3; 3.5) mln t. This should lead to ending stocks of 2.9 (2.6; 2.4) mln t.
