World: 2010/11 corn acreage still expected to rise on year

Informa Economics expects global 2010/11 corn acreage still at 159.9 mln ha and thus to exceed the 157.6 mln ha of the previous season. In the USA the acreage is forecast to reach 33.4 (32.2) mln ha, in China 30.0 (30.0) mln ha, in Brazil 14.5 (13.5) mln ha, and in the EU-27 8.7 (8.6) mln ha. Global corn production is still projected at 832.9 (810.4) mln t.
