Ukraine: 2010 wheat production projected to decline to 19.1 mln t

The US agricultural attaché forecasts Ukraine to produce 19.1 mln t of wheat this year after 20.9 mln t last year due to an expected lower harvested area of 6.6 (6.8) mln ha. Domestic use in 2010/11 is seen at 11.9 (12.3) mln t including a feed use of 2.9 (3.0) mln t. Exports should drop to 7.5 (9.0) mln t. This should result in ending stocks of 2.7 (2.9) mln t.
Barley production is projected at 10.5 (11.8) mln t due to an expected sharply lower acreage of 4.5 (5.0) mln ha. Domestic use is seen reaching 5.8 (6.0) mln t including a feed use of 4.2 (4.4) mln t. Exports should amount to 5.0 (5.7) mln t and ending stocks to 904,000 (1.2 mln) t.
Corn output is estimated to be slightly lower at 9.9 (10.5) mln t due to expected lower yields, while the area should remain stable at 2.1 mln ha. Domestic use should reach 5.6 (5.7) mln t, exports 4.3 (5.0) mln t, and ending stocks 577,000 (567,000) t,
Rye production is projected to decrease to 630,000 (954,000) t due to a lower acreage of 300,000 (461,000) ha. Domestic use is estimated at 780,000 (800,000) t and ending stocks at 299,000 (454,000) t.
