UK: Malting barley use 12 % down on year in July 2009-May 2010

The DEFRA reports that between July 2009 and May 2010 a total of 1.37 mln t of barley were used for malting which is 12% below the 1.54 mln t used in the same period of the previous season. Wheat use for milling reached 5.6 (5.5) mln t.
