UK: Compound feed production in July 2009-May 2010 4% up on year

According to the DEFRA, compound feed production in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) reached 8.9 mln t from July 2009 until May 2010 and was thus 4% higher than the 8.5 mln t produced in the same period of the previous season. Cattle feed output was 3.5 (3.4) mln t, pig feed output 1.3 (1.3) mln t and that of poultry feed 2.7 (2.6) mln t.
2.5 (2.6) mln t of wheat were used for the production of compound feed as well as 798,000 (637,000) t of barley, 102,000 (111,000) t of corn, 47,000 (29,000) t of corn gluten feed, 737,000 (665,000) t of rapeseed meal, 979,000 (1,025,000) t of soybean meal, 288,000 (260,000) t of sunseed meal, 221,000 (146,000) t of beet pulp pellets and 238,000 (263,000) t of molasses.
