Argentina: Biodiesel mandate to be raised to 7% in a few months

The Energy Secretariat has signed a resolution to increase the biodiesel blending mandate to 7% from the current 5%, which is likely to come into effect from September 2010 onwards. From early 2011 onwards the mandate is planned to be raised to 10%. A 7% mandate would mean a biodiesel production of about 1.2 mln (5%: 850,000; 10%: 1.7 mln) t.
