EU: 2010 corn production forecast at 56.5 mln t

According to the US agricultural attaché, this year’s corn production in the EU-27 should reach 56.5 mln t and thus exceed the 55.8 mln t produced in marketing year 2009/10 (Oct./Sept.). The harvested area is estimated at 8.1 (8.3) mln ha, imports at 2.5 (2.5) mln t, exports at 1.3 (1.3) mln t, domestic use at 58.0 (58.5) mln t, thereof feed use at 43.0 (43.5) mln t. This should result in ending stocks of 4.6 (4.9) mln t.
