EU: 2010 wheat production expected at 142.5 mln t

The US agricultural attaché projects wheat production (including durum) in the EU-27 to reach 142.5 mln t this year which is up from the 138.2 mln t harvested last year. The production increase is attributed to expected slightly higher yields. The harvested area remains unchanged at 25.8 (25.8) mln ha. Imports in marketing year 2010/11 (July/June) are estimated at 6.5 (6.0) mln t, exports at 21.5 (21.0) mln t, domestic use at 127.5 (125.5) mln t including a feed use of 58.0 (58.0) mln t, and ending stocks at 15.4 (15.4) mln t.
