USA: Harvest and crop condition update

The USDA reports that 72 (previous week 73; previous year 71)% of the corn crop was rated good to excellent and 9 (9; 7)% poor to very poor as of July 19, 2010. Soybean condition was rated 67 (65; 67)% good to excellent and 9 (11; 8)% poor to very poor. Spring wheat was rated 82 (83; 73)% good to excellent and 3 (3; 7)% poor to very poor.
Currently, 65% of the corn crop is silking, which is up from the 38% of the week before and the 30% of the year before, and up from the five-year average of 47%. 60 (40; 41; 56)% of the soybeans are blooming. In addition, 71 (63; 69; 74)% of the winter wheat crop has been harvested and 87 (72; 80; 91)% of the spring wheat has headed.
