China: Soybean imports in Jan. - June 2010 17% up on year

China’s customs authorities report that China’s soybean imports increased by 17% to 25.8 mln t in Jan.-June 2010 compared to the 22.1 mln t imported in the same period of last year, thereof those from the USA to 13.8 (11.6) mln t, and from Brazil to 9.6 (7.3) mln t, whereas those from Argentina decreased to 2.3 (2.5) mln t. Rapeseed imports declined to 819,000 (1.2 mln) t and which mainly came from Canada.
Soybean oil imports decreased to 256,000 (444,000) t, with those from Argentina decreasing to 154,000 (278,000) t, and those from Brazil to 98,000 (134,000) t. Palm oil imports increased to 3.0 (2.8) mln t, thereof from Malaysia to 2.1 (1.6) mln t, while those from Indonesia were lower at 942,000 (1.1 mln) t.
