Germany: Grain exports and imports in marketing year 2009/10

The German statistics office reports that Germany exported 12.0 mln t of grain in marketing year 2009/10 (July/June) after 12.3 mln t in the previous season, thereof to other EU countries 6.5 (6.7) mln t and to third countries 5.6 (5.7) mln t. The exports of wheat accounted for 8.4 (7.9) mln t, those of wheat flour for 559,000 (470,000) t, of barley for 900,000 (1.7 mln) t, and of rye for 454,000 (386,000) t.
Grain imports totalled 6.9 (7.2) mln t, thereof those from other EU countries 6.7 (7.0) mln t and those from third countries 263,000 (234,000) t. Wheat imports reached 2.8 (3.3) mln t, those of barley 862,000 (1.1 mln) t, of corn 1.9 (1.4) mln t, of rye 325,000 (254,000) t, and of malt 246,000 (251,000) t.
