World: 2008 molasses exports reached 7.2 mln t

F. O. Licht reports that world molasses exports in 2008 amounted to 7.2 mln t after 6.5 mln t in 2007 and 6.2 mln t in 2006. Pakistan exported 1.2 mln (420,000; 519,000) t, Indonesia 947,000 (397,000; 525,000) t, Thailand 787,000 (549,000; 502,000) t, the EU 766,000 (597,000; 781,000) t, and India 650,000 (1.2 mln; 240,000) t.
Main importers were the EU with 3.6 (3.1; 2.3) mln t, the USA with 1.1 (1.1; 1.6) mln t, Vietnam with 620,000 (350,000; 778,000) t and South Korea with 784,000 (606,000; 611,000) t.
