1970s and 1980s - The network of own branches in Asia and South America is expanded continually. In 1979 the transformation to Toepfer International was completed. InTrade, a group of international cooperative members, became an equity shareholder at that time. Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) joined as a further partner in 1983. In the middle of the 1980s, we began supplying the processing industry in the EU on a regional basis. In the United Kingdom and in Ireland, our subsidiaries Arkady Feed UK and Arkady Feed Dublin are numbered among the most important suppliers of raw materials for the compound feed industry. The same is true for our subsidiary Ceralto, which has been active in Spain on our behalf since 1986. At the end of the 1980s, we began expanding the activities of our branch in Singapore by turning it into a regional head office. Next to procuring raw materials for the head office in Hamburg, the colleagues in Singapore remain active in the undiminished rapidly growing inner-Asian business.

1990s - At the beginning of the nineties, we entered the direct originating of agricultural commodities in Argentina. At the same time, we expanded our branch in Buenos Aires by transforming it into a regional head office for our activities in the MERCOSUR region. Following the fall of the "Iron Curtain," we founded our own branches in Central and Eastern Europe and entered the originating in this region as well.

2000s - Today, approximately 900 employees are working in 40 offices and branches worldwide. An additional 1,200 staff are employed in our silos and elevators.

2004 - The EU-15 becomes the EU-25: The expansion by the countries of Central and Eastern Europe takes place on May 1, 2004. Alfred C. Toepfer positioned himself early in these markets.
At the same time, and with a view towards the expansion of the EU by the countries of Bulgaria and Romania on January 1, 2007 (EU-27), we expanded our activities in both of these countries as well as in Ukraine.
