Poland: 2009 wheat production seen at 8.5 mln t

Poland’s Institute of Agriculture and Food Economics estimates Poland’s 2009 wheat crop at 8.5 mln t which is below the 9.3 mln t harvested in 2008. The reduction is due to expected lower yields of 3.8 (4.1) t/ha. Triticale production is seen at 4.1 (4.5) mln t, that of barley at 3.6 (3.6) mln t, of rye at 3.4 (3.5) mln t, of corn at 1.9 (1.8) mln t, and of oats at 1.3 (1.3) mln t.
