Branntwein (BfA) reports that total ethanol production in Germany reached 697,000 m³ in the first nine months of marketing year 2008/09 (July/June) which represents an increase of 35% from the 518,000 m³ produced in the same period of the previous marketing year. 556,000 (338,000) m³ thereof were produced for biofuel use which represents an increase of 64%.
457,000 (414,000) t of wheat were used for ethanol production as well as 288,000 (39,000) t of corn, 204,000 (94,000) t of rye, 75,000 (70,000) t of barley, 73,000 (53,000) t of triticale and 460,000 (244,000) t of molasses.
